COAL SAMPLING SYSTEM
LNS Services contracted FSD Engineering to assist with the engineering, complete the detailed design, provide engineering drawings for all structural components, and provide detailed fabrication drawings for all mechanical components. The sampling system was comprised of primary, secondary and tertiary samplers and their associated crushers, connecting belt conveyors and stainless steel chutework. The new system allows the end user to increase its future capacity while meeting ASTM and ISO coal sampling standards.
BRAKE WAGON DESIGN
Wilmar Sugar Pty Ltd contracted FSD Engineering to create an ‘As Built’ solid model and a detailed set of fabrication drawings for a new brake wagon design. FSD Engineering completed additional re-design of the frame to ensure the brake wagon would meet its weight requirement without the complexity required in the ‘As Built’ assembly. FSD Engineering also provided a complete set of DXF files for all parts requiring profile cutting.
BACKUP WRENCH ANALYSIS
FSD Engineering was contracted by Radiius Engineering Ltd to complete a finite element analysis (FEA) and analytical analysis to support the certification of a proposed backup wrench. The wrench would allow removal of pressure vessel flanges where the end user had limited access and clearance.
LINER HANDLER CERTIFICATION
Maxitool Mining contracted FSD Engineering to complete a design review of their latest liner handler beam and provide certification under the required loading conditions to the applicable Australian Standards. A combination of finite element analysis (FEA) and analytical methods where used to complete the design review. A few design adjustments were required for the beam to meet the structural requirements, Maxitool was notified of the required changes and the analysis was re-done with the revised geometry. The revised geometry satisfied the requirements of the Australian Standards and was certified.
BELT CONVEYOR UPGRADE
FSD Engineering was contracted by LNS Services to provide engineering support and detailed fabrication drawings for the belt skirting and rain hood required for a belt conveyor upgrade. FSD had to collaborate closely to ensure all components would interface correctly with work being done by LNS Services. The conveyor upgrade was required to increase the capacity of the end user’s offloading facilities.
ROPE PULL LUG ANALYSIS
Wilmar Sugar Pty Ltd contracted FSD Engineering to analyze two (2) existing rope pull lug designs and provide tables for each design indicating safety factors for a variety of pull force and angle combinations. The tables were created to assist Wilmar in determining appropriate limitations on the continued use of each lug design for roping operations and development of a Safe Work Procedure.
INVENTOR CUSTOMISATION
FSD has been working with EM Manufacturing Ltd. to develop a customized workflow involving templates, content center, and API programming, for pressure vessels and heat exchangers. The goal of the workflow is to eliminate manual entry for Bill of Materials and Item Balloons (reducing potential errors) while at the same time reducing the time it takes to create the solid model.
